Apr 8: New Moon in Aries Solar Eclipse (North America)

Syzygy.
Many people will experience this phenomenon today during the solar eclipse. And no, it isn’t a condition or awe felt during these cosmic events.
In all seriousness, a syzygy (si-zah-gee) aligns the celestial bodies of the Sun, Moon, Earth, or even a planet. The last solar eclipse in the US was in 2017; it was an annular eclipse, meaning a bright ring surrounded the outside. The next total eclipse won't occur in the contiguous U.S. until August 2044.
Although I was fortunate to see the annular eclipse in 2017, we won’t have the total eclipse near Lexington, KY. We are only scheduled for a 96.1% disappearance of the sun. Still, for skywatchers, it might be a grim disappointment; glancing out my window, I see that it’s 100% hidden by clouds, but it might not dull the energy effects of the eclipse.
I like this eclipse energy to be more potent than a mega-intensified super-powered new moon (as it is the third super new moon in a row). It affects all signs differently, but for us Libras, we might feel pricklier during this time. The impending changes are forcing us to be more patient and lean into our intuition further.
The fiery energy of Aries is driven and eager, ready to have a complete ego death and embrace our unique purpose. Recently, I heard a saying that summed up the reason for our existence: The universe is interested in your growth, not your happiness. I’m betting those who traveled far and wide and missed the event due to weather (like Texas) or clouds will be ungrateful for the growth over happiness.
We also have an astrologically packed sky, with the Sun, Moon, Venus, the North Node, Mercury (still retrograde until the 25th), and Chiron. As someone who had Chiron in my first house (Aries) at birth, this will be a sure sign of some heavy retrospection, and I anticipate the deep healing that is needed.
Speaking of Chiron, he is considered the "wound healer" of Astrology, with the power to transform energy from pain and suffering into healing and growth. Libras will also have heightened intuition, strong spiritual connections, and divine encounters. These could be related to self-growth, business, or a new venture.
When paired with Aries during this eclipse, everyone should be prepared for a surge of emotions related to manifestation, goals, and dreams, accompanied by a balanced dose of insecurity that specifically targets wounds of self-worth and self-esteem. These feelings may last a bit longer than the eclipse, for at least a couple of weeks. Be sure to quiet the chaos within and be patient with yourself during this time.
Although I am not opposed to doing grids or spell work during eclipses, the energy affects me strongly and can be chaotic to harness. Most of the time, I perform a tarot spread due to my physical sensations (e.g., tiredness, headaches, nausea, tingling).
I did find this to be the perfect day to reveal the first card of my next Tarot Suit: Ace of Fire. To learn more about the Tarot project, visit my website.
Until next time, let your inner compass guide you. 🧭
