Title: Black Moon Lilith

Read time 5-10 minutes.

How do you reclaim the wild pieces of yourself that were buried—the ones you were told were too much, too dangerous, too strange to be seen?

This month’s Black Moon on 23 August, for EDT, arrives as a rare and potent lunar threshold — a New Moon so deep in shadow it disappears from the sky entirely. Astronomically, it’s the third New Moon in a season that has four, a celestial anomaly that comes only every few years. Energetically, it’s a cosmic reset button — an invitation to step into the unseen and meet the truths you’ve kept locked away.

When the Moon disappears, there’s nothing left to reflect the light of others. What’s left is your own light — unfiltered, unpolished, and entirely yours to claim.

From Illumination to Integration

Earlier this month, the Full Sturgeon Moon in Aquarius lit up what was ready to be seen — revelations, breakthroughs, and moments of clarity in our outer world.
Now, the Black Moon pulls us inward, away from the spotlight, into the fertile dark.

The two work together:

  • The Sturgeon Moon brought illumination and visibility.

  • The Black Moon offers integration, rooting those insights deep below the surface.

What you saw then, you can root here.

The Untamed Archetype of Lilith

In astrology, Black Moon Lilith marks the place in your chart where your wildest sovereignty lives — the part of you that will not be domesticated.

Myth tells of Lilith as the first woman, who refused to bow to false power and chose exile over submission. She represents the truths we hide because the world once told us they were unacceptable: our raw desires, our unedited voice, our unshakable self-respect.

Astrologically, Lilith is not a planet but a calculated point — the lunar apogee, the farthest point of the Moon’s orbit. Symbolically, she is the farthest reach of your personal truth, the edge where you stop trying to please and start living on your own terms.

This Black Moon amplifies her presence, turning the volume up on whatever part of your life she inhabits in your natal chart. Where Lilith is, you may have been shamed, silenced, or told you were “too much.” This lunar moment says: Rise there anyway.

Finding Your Black Moon Lilith

If you don’t know where Lilith sits in your chart, it’s easy to find:

  1. Go to Astro-Seek.com or Astro.com.

  2. Enter your date, exact time, and place of birth.

  3. In the settings, select Black Moon Lilith (True or Mean — both work for this reflection).

  4. Look for which house she’s in — this is the life area where your wild crown waits.

Rituals for Black Moon Sovereignty

Choose the one that resonates most — or combine them. Each one is designed to help you meet the part of yourself that has been buried and crown it as your own.

1. Lilith Reclamation Ritual (Chart-Based)

Best for: Working directly with your Lilith placement.

  1. Write down your Lilith house and its sovereignty invitation.

  2. Reflect: When have I hidden this part of me? Who told me it was too much?

  3. Write three sentences declaring this part of you as your crown, not your curse.

  4. Speak them aloud with presence, hand over your heart:

I rise in the place they told me to fall.

2. Black Moon Shadow Letter (Universal Release)

  1. Write a letter beginning with: I no longer hide… and list every part of yourself you’re done shrinking.

  2. Fold the paper three times.

  3. Burn it safely under the Black Moon, or bury it to compost into new strength.

3. The Unseen Walk (Embodiment Practice)

  1. Walk at night in safe darkness.

  2. Move as if you wear your crown, even though no one can see it.

  3. Remember that feeling in daylight — your sovereignty does not depend on being seen.

4. Blackout Journaling: The Crown in the Dark

  1. Write the question: What part of me is ready to rise, even in the dark?

  2. Free-write without stopping.

  3. Black out anything you don’t want visible, leaving only the fragments that feel like pure truth.

  4. Read those fragments aloud as your mantras.

5. Harvest & Retreat (Sturgeon Moon Integration)

  1. List three revelations from the Sturgeon Moon earlier this month.

  2. For each, choose one way to root it during the Black Moon.

  3. Sit in stillness, imagining these seeds growing unseen until they’re ready to emerge.

6. Rune of Release (Symbolic Dissolution)

  1. Draw the rune: an X with two horizontal lines (above and below) and a vertical line through the center.

  2. Focus on the frustration, limit, or blockage you want gone.

  3. Scribble over the rune with a black marker, pouring your frustration into the act.

  4. Crumple or tear the paper and dispose of it — the limitation leaves with it.

Final Reflection:

This Black Moon is not a time for smallness. It is a time for meeting yourself in the dark and seeing the truth of what you are: untamed, unbroken, and crowned in your own sovereignty.

Until next time, let your inner compass guide you. 🧭
